Chowan Men’s Basketball Ranked No. 7 in D2CSC National Poll
MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men’s Basketball team has secured a spot in the D2CSC Men’s Basketball National Poll, ranking No. 7 in the Week 2 standings released by the D2CSC on Thursday morning. The D2CSC (Division II Collegiate Sports Communications) is an organization that recognizes and ranks the top athletes across NCAA Division II Sports.
The Hawks are currently 3-2 overall and will begin conference play against Emmanuel on Saturday, November 23rd. The Chowan men’s basketball team is averaging 83.2 points per game. On defense, the Hawks are averaging 6.2 steals per game, with a team total of 31, while also keeping opponents in check with 12 blocks on the season.
Offensively, Chowan is led by senior guard Daylan Askew, who ranks 2nd in Conference Carolinas with 116 points across five games played and is also ranked 8th in the NCAA in points. On the boards, sophomore Damerius Summers leads the Hawks with 34 total rebounds, averaging 6.8 per game, and ranks 7th in Conference Carolinas for rebounds.
USC Aiken, Carson-Newman, North Georgia, Lincoln Memorial, and Catawba hold the top five spots in the poll, with Coker, Chowan, Columbus State, Flagler, and Newberry rounding out the rest of the rankings.
