Chowan University Welcomes Alumnus Brandon Matthews as Instructor of Information Systems
Chowan University is pleased to welcome Brandon Matthews as Instructor of Information Systems. He graduated from Chowan University with a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.S.in Sports Administration from Liberty University. Being a Chowan graduate, he knows the community well and is looking forward to contributing to the university he attended.
Matthews is a former first generation college student. He is married to Samantha, also a graduate of Chowan University and they have a five year old daughter whose name is Harper. He is “excited to be able to relate to the incoming students and guide them along their educational journey.” He also is thrilled to be working with faculty members who instructed and mentored him.
Professor Matthews said, “Chowan taught me self-discipline and the ability to communicate and act as a professional in the business world. As a Business major, I was exposed to a wide range of topics including, management, accounting, sales and marketing, as well as information systems courses. I have been able to start my own business in sports instruction. As an entrepreneur I have been involved with web design, marketing, sales and promotions, and servicing customers and clients. The knowledge I gained at Chowan definitely helped pave the way.”
Matthews is the owner of Swing Angry Baseball and Softball, an opportunity for data-driven sports player development. His player philosophy is easily adaptable to life lessons. On his business webpage he writes, “There are no magic pills or shortcuts to success. Almost everything worth doing requires time and effort.” Professor Matthews hopes to “empower today’s graduates with practical skills to navigate the world with confidence and resilience.”
