Chowan Hires D’Souza as New Instructional Designer
Chowan welcomes newly hired staff member, Jonathan D’Souza as the university’s instructional designer. D’Souza, originally from Qatar, now joins us in Murfreesboro from Kansas City. The loving husband to Katie D’Souza and father to two-year-old son Ben is more than a skilled instructional designer; he is an avid fisherman, action figure collector, and devoted Rambo fan. D’Souza’s passion for life is highlighted in his career goal, “making online learning fun and less painful for the [instructor] on the technical side, so the professor and student can focus on teaching and learning.”
D’ Souza attended Emporia State University receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business with a specialization in Marketing followed by a Master’s of Science in Instructional Design and Technology, both from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. After completing college, D’Souza spent an additional nine years in academia, only leaving after taking an exciting corporate opportunity. But after basking in the corporate sector, D’Souza’s devotion to being a lifelong learner called him back to the academic community.
Having a qualified instructional designer is a vital component that elevates professors’ ability to teach, students’ capacity to learn, and is instrumental in an institution's success. University Provost, Dr. Danny Moore acknowledges the importance of the addition of an instructional designer to Chowan’s academic affairs staff saying, “[the position] makes online course development easier for faculty. The knowledge, experience, and skills Jonathan D’Souza has already shared with [our] faculty has enabled them to make their courses more efficient, effective, and appealing for students.” With D’Souza’s arrival, Chowan University can continue moving forward with our newly established instructional delivery formats with an unshakable confidence and enthusiasm.
Please join us in welcoming Jonathan to Chowan University!
