Student Clubs and Organizations
There's more to college than just sitting in a classroom. College is a once in a lifetime experience that students will remember for the rest of their lives.
Participating in clubs at Chowan will make the college experience much more memorable. Students are encouraged to get involved.
Everyone becomes a leader and gains confidence that will last well beyond their years at Chowan.
Students learn new skills, are challenged, and have fun taking part in the wide variety of clubs and organizations that Chowan has to offer.
Academic. There are many academic clubs at Chowan for students interested in learning more about the different areas of study. Clubs like the.

Christian. Chowan University offers clubs that help students grow in their Christian faith:
They focus on maintaining a relationship with God and reaching out to others through various activities on and off campus.
Many of these clubs work with local churches to promote the Christian faith.
Government. Some clubs at Chowan get students involved in government-based activities.
The Student Government Association (SGA) gives students the chance to socialize with others, learn about the democratic process, and develop leadership skills. Most importantly, students in the SGA can make a difference at Chowan.
Students can also join the College Democrats or the College Republicans, which teaches students more about the respective parties, engage in political discussion and debate.
Honors. Students who are doing well in academics or have made a name for themselves on campus are chosen to join various organizations and societies.
These students are representatives of Chowan on and off campus. It is a great honor for students to be chosen and it looks great on a resume.
Performance. Many clubs at Chowan University allow students to show off their skills in theatre, dancing, and music.

The Campus Programming Board is responsible for planning most of the social activities at Chowan. They sponsor weekly movie night and Spring Fling to name a few.

Intramural SportsIntramurals at Chowan are all about having fun, relaxing, and releasing stress.
Many students participate in intramurals because they want to play sports, but not at the intercollegiate level.
They can compete with their friends, improve their skills, and participate in a wide variety of sports.
Many students try to win the "Intramural Champion" T-shirt.
Most importantly, intramurals at CU encourage students to become leaders on and off the field.

Squirrel Park, in the center of campus, is a hot spot for outdoor intramurals. Games can start up any time.
There's plenty of room for spectators who can sit on a swing under a shady oak tree.
The Hawk's Nest is the place to be after finishing an intense game. It has a snack bar, TV and several ping pong, foosball, and air hockey tables.
The Chowan Hockey League plays on roller-skates at the Hawk's Nest. Fans line the balcony and the edge of the rink to watch each team enter through the tunnel before the start of a fast-paced game.
The renovated tennis courts are good for students practicing with their friends.
Lots of students practice their swing at the golf range, and the Helms Center contains an indoor swimming pool.
The Jenkins Center is the newest popular hang-out among students. Many indoor intramurals are played there. It has a basketball court and a gym equipped with weights, treadmills, and other workout equipment.
Many students give intramurals a try and find that they enjoy it.
