Campus Ministry this year. The new 2012 list will be posted in the future.
February 4-6, 2011: Camp Mundo Vista (near Asheboro, NC) We will leave campus on Friday, stay in rustic cabins, and clean up the camp during Saturday morning (cutting and hauling limbs off the paths, cleaning, raking leaves, etc). Saturday evening through Sunday afternoon, we will have a retreat with The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina Collegiate Ministry. There will be college students from schools across the state joining us at Camp Mundo Vista to focus on God's Call (Exodus 3:5). Price: $25
March 12-17, 2011: Washington, D.C. We will serve in several different capacities throughtout our nation's capitol: homeless ministries, poverty initiatives, educational experiences, etc. We will be staying at a church in downtown D.C., and using public transportation while we are there. Price: Approximately $300
May 2011: Haiti. We will respond to the disaster in Haiti by working with a ministry team to help tear out and rebuild homes affected by the earthquakes of 2010. This is a manual labor ministry...staying in tents, no air condition, etc! This trip will REQUIRE a valid passport, so if you don't already have one, you must apply for one. Click here to apply. Price: Approximately $1,500
July 3-9, 2011: Camp Penuel (Ironton, MO). This is a ministry through a partnership of Chowan Campus Ministry with the Christian Activity Center in East St. Louis, IL. CU students will travel with the children of East St. Louis to a camp in Ironton, Missouri. We serve as Camp Counselors for the week, stay in rustic cabins, and have hands-on ministry opportunities with the 6-11 year old kids of ESL. Price: Approximately $250 - $300
The Chowan University Campus Ministry is NOT a travel agency. These opportunities are for MISSION experiences and ministry, to help you become GLOBAL - GOSPEL citizens. For any of these experiences, you must fill out an application (click here to download and save), interview, and be accepted for each trip. Note: Each experience requires different skill sets, and all applicants may not meet the skill level requirements for each trip.
As with all of our Missions endeavors, we will work with you to help you raise funds for your portion of the experience. However, you must be willing to be creative and work with us to accomplish the task of fundraising.
If you have any questions, or want to turn in your application(s), please email Rev. Mari Wiles at wilesm@chowan.edu.
