Chowan
Completes Sweep with Win Over Coker Today

MURFREESBORO
- Chowan completed the three-game sweep of Coker College
with a final blow out of 22-11. This weekend's wins over
Coker are the program's first since the 1999 season.
Chowan continued where they left off offensively as they
pounded out 22 hits today to total 48 hits over the
three game series.
Trailing 3-1
heading into the bottom of the second, the Hawks used a
six run inning to get on top of Cobras. They added 3
more runs in their next at bat before Coker answered in
the top of the 5th with their runs of their own to cut
the Hawks lead to 9-7. The Coker pitchers couldn't hold
off the bats of the Hawks as they scored 12 runs in the
7th and 8th innings to ice the game and take the
series.
Eight
players had multiple hits in the game led by PJ Sadler
was 4-5 with 4 RBI and 4 runs scored. Freshman Nick
Harner was 3-3 with 3 runs scored while Michael Kellett
also added 3 hits and 3 RBI.
Steven
Humpries started the game, going 4 innings allowing 5
earned runs and striking out 2 batters. Brooks Walker
was credited with the win after coming in relief for
Humpries. Walker struck out three Cobra batters while
allowing 2 hits and 2 runs. Spencer Fagan and Ryan Leary
combined efforts in the final three innings to help the
Hawks to victory.
Chowan now
sits at 3-0 heading in to their next match up against
Fairmont State University next Saturday at 1:00pm.
