Women’s Basketball Seniors Make NCCAA All South Region Team

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The NCCAA South Region has officially announced the 2006-2007 women’s basketball All South Region Team. Two Chowan student-athletes, Joi Hazel and Lauryn Perry, were named to the team after turning in solid senior seasons. 

Hazel is a three-year member of the NCCAA All South Region team and for the third straight year led the team in scoring per game. She will leave the program as the most decorated player to play in the Chowan Blue and White. In December Hazel was honored as the program’s all-time leading scorer.

Perry, a transfer from Glendale Community College in Arizona, led the team in three point shooting percentage and three points shot made per game. She was second on the team in overall scoring. 

The Chowan women’s program completed their 2006-07 season this past weekend at the All Star Independent Classic hosted by Converse College and finished with a 14-15 overall record.
