Home Streak Ends Today with DH Loss to Montreat College

MURFREESBORO
- The baseball team dropped two games to Montreat
College this afternoon 10-3 and 7-1, ending their ten
game home win-streak. Chowan, who entered today's double
dip hitting .385 as a team, was held to just 11 hits
over 14 innings of play while Montreat collected 23 hits
over the two games.
Bryan Hill
pitched 4.2 innings in the first game, dropping his
season record to 1-1. Hill gave up 8 hits and 8 earned
runs while striking out 5 Montreat batters. The Hawks
were held to 7 hits as a team with Mike Kellett and PJ
Sadler getting 2 hits each. Joey Ryder was 1-2 with 2
RBI in the loss.
Steve
Humprey picked up the loss in the night cap after
throwing 4 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 earned runs.
Spencer Fagan come in to throw the final 3 innings,
giving up 3 runs on 7 hits while striking out 2 batters.
The Hawks
were held to 4 hits in the second game led by Matt
Bullock who had 2 hits with 1 run scored. Nick Harner
was 1-3 with 1 RBI while Kellett collected 1 hit in the
loss.
Chowan will
wrap up their four-game series with Montreat tomorrow as
they host the Cavaliers again at 12:00pm in a
doubleheader.
