Runs Home Win Streak to Ten, Carroll Meets Milestone

MURFREESBORO
- The baseball team moved to 10-1 on the season after a
double header sweep of Eastern Mennonite University this
afternoon. The Hawks won the first game 10-3 and the
night cap 9-2. Today's wins move their home unbeaten
streak to ten games while the Head Coach Aaron Carroll
met a milestone of his own. After today's first victory
he moved to 150 career head coaching wins.
Chowan
pounded out 15 hits in the first game with five players
getting multiple hits. Joey Ryder was 3-3 at the plate
with 4 RBI and 1 run scored while Mike Kellett was 3-4
with 3 RBI and 1 run scored. Justin Hollingsworth also
tallied 3 hits in 4 at-bats while driving in 2 runs.
Nate Mitchell and PJ Sadler had 2 hits each in the 10-3
win. Billy Coburn pitched for the win after throwing 6.1
innings, scattering 5 hits, 3 runs, and striking out 3
EMU batters. Spencer Fagan threw in relief, giving up 1
hit in 3 batters faced.
After three
scoreless at-bats in the second game, Chowan got on the
board in the 4th inning with 3 runs. They went on to add
6 more runs over their next two at-bats to take the game
with a final score of 9-2. Chowan was led by Brandon
Hamlett at the plate who was 2-2 with 2 runs scored and
1 RBI. Nick Harner was 2-3 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored.
David Hughes added 2 RBI in the win.
Steven Brown
picked up his second win of the season after throwing
5.0 innings, allowing 5 hits and 1 run. Fagan pitched
the final 2 innings giving up 2 hits and 1 run.
