MURFREESBORO
- The women's basketball team fell to 4-4 on the year
after suffering a 65-52 loss to Mount Olive College
tonight. The Hawks shot just 34% from the floor while
Mount Olive hit 56% of the shots that they took in the
game.
The Hawks
got off to a slow start offensively, scoring just 20
points in the first period. The Trojans took a 32-20
lead into the half and got up by as many as 25 points in
the second period. The Hawks mounted a comeback with
just over seven minutes to play in the game to cut the
Trojan lead to 9 points with 1:25 to go in the game. Joi
Hazel hit 1-2 from the free throw line to cut the Trojan
lead to single digits but the Trojans scored on their
next possession to put the game out of reach for the
Hawks.
Chowan was
led by Tyshaunna Winston who came off the bench to score
15 points and grab 5 rebounds. AJ O'Bannion scored 8
points and 5 rebounds while Rachel Wood contributed 7
points in the loss. For Mount Olive Tomeka Prichard
scored a team-high 14 points and was 4-7 from beyond the
three point arch.
Chowan falls
to 4-4 on the year while the Trojans move to 3-3 after
tonight's game. The Hawks will take off during the
school's exam period and hit the court on December 14th
with they host UNC-Pembroke at 5:30pm.
