Roll Past Concord

MURFREESBORO
- The men's basketball team rolled to a 92-81 victory
over visiting Concord University this afternoon in a
game that saw five Hawks score in double figures. Chowan
amassed their highest point total this season with the
92 points posted this afternoon.
Chowan took
a decisive 45-29 lead into halftime and never gave up
the lead through 40 minutes of play. The Hawks shot 54%
(34-63) from the floor in the game, including a 6-12
performance from beyond the three point arch. Chowan's
Chris Kenon came off the bench to hit 4-5 from three
point land and total 16 points in the win.
Leading the
way offensively for the Hawks was senior Marcus Artis
who had a season-high 25 points. He also tallied 7
rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 blocks today's win. Trayvon
Lathan contributed 17 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, and
3 assists while both Deon Tynes and Joe Brice chipped in
11 points. In all 10 players scored in today's win,
which moved Chowan to 2-4 on the year. Concord falls to
1-5 after today's defeat.
For Concord
Tyrone Anderson scored 22 points while Camille Leach and
Durron Mitchell scored 17 and 15 points respectively.
The Mountain Lions shot 43% from the floor on 27-63
shots taken.
Chowan will
travel to Barton College on Tuesday night for a 7:30pm
match up. Currently Barton is ranked #12 in the nation
and is coming off a 23-4 season and an NCAA Elite 8
appearance.
