Fall to the University of Charleston 72-68

CHARLESTON,
WV - The University of Charleston held off a late surge
by the visiting Hawks to win tonight 72-68. The loss
drops Chowan to 4-6 on the year.
Chowan took
a narrow 31-26 lead into halftime but lost their game
lead at the 15:41mark of the second period when UC's
Warren Wallace hit a three point to take a 36-35 lead.
The home standing Golden Eagles stretched their lead to
as many as 12 points in the second period and would
never give up their lead despite Chowan's late comeback
efforts. Chowan cut the lead to 4 points with :14 and to
2 points with :01 to play but was forced to foul in the
final second of the game. UC put the game out of reach
after hitting back to back free throws with one tick on
the clock.
Chowan falls
to 4-6 while UC evens their overall record at 3-3. For
Chowan Deon Tynes notched a double-double with 17 points
and 12 boards while Marcus Artis chipped in 14 points
and 9 rebounds. Chowan will take off for Christmas but
return to the court on December 29th at the UNC-Pembroke
Classic. They will tip it up with Mount Olive College at
5:00pm in the first round of play. Listen to both
