Blasts Belmont Abbey

- Eleven Chowan players scored as they soared to a 81-64
win over visiting Belmont Abbey College. The Hawks
dominated the paint as they got 40 of their 81 points
inside the blue while also committing just 12 team
turnovers.
The Hawks
took a 43-22 lead into the half which was enough to keep
the Crusaders playing catch-up for the entire second
half. Chowan got a lift from Roderick Ramsay and Malik
Carter as they combined for 25 points off the bench.
Trayvon Lathan led all scorers in the game with 15
points. He also had 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
Deon Tynes continued his contributions down low with 11
points, 6 steals, and 5 rebounds while Marcus Artis
chipped in 8 points in the win.
Chowan shot
53% from the floor in the game, hitting 33 of 62 shots
taken. Carter was 2-2 from beyond the three point arch
while Chris Kenon and Ramsay each hit one trey in the
game.
The
Crusaders, now 2-6 overall, shot 41% from the floor and
were led by Sidney Hoff with 14 points and Brooks Beard
who scored 13 points and dished out 5 assists.
Chowan will
travel to the University of Charleston (WV) on Monday
for a 7:30pm tip off. They will return to the court
after Christmas at the UNC-Pembroke Classic on December
29th and 30th.
