Beat Bishops on the Road

ROCKY MOUNT,
NC - The women's basketball team upped their record to
4-2 after a 61-46 come from behind win over North
Carolina Wesleyan tonight. Freshman forward AJ O'Bannion
poured in a game-high 16 points as the Hawks shot 43%
from the floor.
Trailing by
two points with just under eight minutes to play,
Tyshaunna Winston gave Chowan the lead 41-40 after
hitting two free throws. Winston stole the Bishops
ensuing in bounded pass and hit a lay up that helped
spark a 13-0 Chowan run that would eventually put the
game out of reach for the home standing Bishops.
Joining
O'Bannion in double-figures tonight was sophomore Alicia
McMorris who had 12 points to go with 4 assists and 4
steals. Winston came off the bench to score 11 points
while senior Joi Hazel contributed 10 points in the win.
Chowan
improves to 4-2 on the year while the Bishops fall to
2-3 on the year. The Hawks will travel to Queens
University in Charlotte on Sunday for a 2:00pm tip off
before returning to the Helms Center on December 5th
when they host Mount Olive at 6:00pm.
