MURFREESBORO
- Virginia State used a last second shot to lift them
over the home standing Hawks this evening 81-79. With
1.8 seconds on the clock Virginia State's Brian
Henderson lobbed an in bounds pass to a waiting Avis
Wyatt who scored on a dunk to take the lead 81-79.

was unable to convert.
Tonight's
thriller at the Helms Center featured 12 lead changes
and 6 ties. After trailing 45-37 at the half the Hawks
chipped away at the Trojans lead through out the first
nine minutes of play in the second period. Chowan's Joe
Brice drilled a three pointer at the 11:40 mark to take

would take in the second period. The two teams exchanged
buckets for most of the remaining minutes in the game.
With the game notched at 79-79 and :59 to go in the
game, Deon Tynes grabbed a defensive rebound and headed
down court to try to get his team in position to score

Chowan and drove the length of the court. After a missed
lay up the ball went off a Chowan player and out of
bounds under the Trojan's basket. With 1.8 seconds to
play in the game Henderson lobbed the ball to Wyatt who
scored the go ahead bucket. Chowan failed to score in
the final second of the game and lost with a score of
81-79.

who netted 18 points and dished 6 assists. Marcus Artis
and Brice scored 15 points each while Tynes added 14
points.
