team battle with #19 Mount Olive College but fell just
short of claiming the 41st Annual Pickle Classic title
with a 79-70 loss. The game featured six lead
changes and 5 ties, four of those ties came in the
second half.
The Hawks got down by 17
points with just over 5:00 to play in the first period
but cut the lead to nine heading into the halftime
period. Mount Olive took a 41-32 lead into the second
period. Trayvon Lathan drained a three pointer at the
15:20 mark of the second period to bring Chowan within 2
points of the Trojans at 49-47. Less than one minute
later Marcus Artis grabbed a missed Chris Kenon shot and
put it back in to knot the game at 49-49. Artis hit a
pair of free throws at the 12:07 mark to put Chowan up
54-53. The home standing Trojans took a 61-58 lead at
the nine minute mark and never gave it up, holding
