November 16, 2006
CENTRAL, SC – Three freshman women’s soccer players
along with one junior anchored the All South Region
Women’s Soccer Team this season.
Freshman Ashley Bradford, who ranked most of the season
as the number two offensive player in the NCCAA, was
atop of the team’s statistical categories all season.
She netted 23 season goals and 9 assists for 55 total
points. Bradford blew previous the records for season
goals (13) and season points (30) out of the water this
year by 10 goals and 25 points. The native of Chesapeake
and graduate of Hickory High School accounted for two
game-winning goals this season against Southern Virginia
and Methodist College while also compiling eight
multiple goal games, including 4 season hat tricks.
Joining Bradford on the All South Region Team is fellow
freshman Clara Danzeisen. She netted 8 goals and 5
assists for 21 points this season. The Richmond native
was the squad’s second leading scorer this season.
Two defenders were named to the All Region team in
junior Stephanie Montague and freshman Erin Jackson.
Montague helped the Hawks to four shut outs and two ties
on the defensive side of the ball. She also scored five
goals on the year for ten points. Jackson also helped
solidify the back line, aiding in those four season
shutouts. The Norfolk native accounted for two goals
from the back line this season.
The Hawks wrapped up their 2006 season at the NCCAA
South Region Tournament last week where they finished in
2nd place. They entered the tournament as the #4 seed
and in their first match knocked off #1 ranked Faulkner
University to advance to the championship match. They
eventually fell to #2 ranked Palm Beach Atlantic
University 3-0 and ended the year with a 9-10-2 overall
record.
