XC Finishes 15th at Hagan Stone Classic

GREENSBORO, NC - The cross country team placed 15th out of 16 participating teams. The field included several NCAA DI programs including Duke and Longwood. Duke went on to claim the first place spot in the team results. 

Individually all five Chowan runners set personal bests on the Hagan Stone course. Jennifer Hunter led the team across the finish line first, finishing with a person best of 24:28 an in 84th place out of 129 runners. Joi Hazel completed the 3.2 mile course in 26:13, also a new personal best, to finish 107th. Brittany Thompson and Courtney Brown finished back-to-back in 109th and 110th place after turning in times of 26:23 and 26:24. Newcomer Ashley Moran finished 124th with a time of 29:51. 

The top time in the race was 17:39, ran by an individual in a club organization. A Duke participant put in the top collegiate time after running the course in 17:51. 

Chowan has one meet left on their regular season schedule. They will travel to North Carolina Wesleyan College on October 17th for a tri-meet to begin at 4:00pm.
