Soccer Back on Top

GREENVILLE, SC – After
falling last week in the polls to #2, the Hawks are back
on top of the NCCAA South Region after last week’s play.
The team, who has an overall record of 8-4-2, picked up
wins over Methodist and Converse while playing to a tie
with Erskine College to propel them back to the #1 spot
in the region.
The Hawks take the #1 spot while Palm Beach Atlantic
slipped to the #3 team after falling to 7-7 overall.
Faulkner University (AL) moved into the #2 spot with a
7-6 overall record and Southern Wesleyan continues to
hold the #4 spot with a 6-8 overall record.
Judson College (IL) remains the #1 in the nation with an
11-2 overall record. The lead the nation in goals
average per game, scoring 2.54 goals per match. The
Hawks are ranked 11th in the nation and average 1.86
goals per match.
Chowan’s Ashley Bradford continues her #2 rank in the
NCCAA. She has 20 goals and 7 assists for 47 points.
Remarkably the top three offensive players in the nation
are all freshmen. Faulkner’s Nichole Jagt leads the
nation at 35 goals while the #3 ranked offensive player,
Christina Thornton from Judson, has 17 season goals.
Bradford also has two game-winning goals this season,
against Methodist and Southern Virginia.
The women’s soccer team will host the University of Mary
Washington tomorrow in their final home match at 4:00pm.
