CU Football Raises Money to Feed Local Community
Annual 'Two for Turkey' Raises Enough Money
to Feed Ten Local Families

MURFREESBORO, NC- For the second consecutive year the Chowan University football program has campaigned to feed the hungry in the Roanoke-Chowan community over the Thanksgiving Holiday. Chowan's Head Football Coach, Tim Place, dubbed the campaign "Two for Turkey". Since October 9th, Chowan's Homecoming week, the program has been collecting $2.00 donations that would go to purchase food to feed families on Thankgiving day. In conjunction with the Murfreesboro Food Lion Store, the football program was able to raise enough money to feed more than ten local families, complete with turkey and all the trimmings.

On Tuesday Place, along with his two children Nate and Claire, joined members of the Food Lion store to collect the food. The food will be delivered on Thanksgiving day to more than ten families.

"All associated with the Chowan Football Program appreciate the contributions and donations many generous individuals gave so as to make the "Two for Turkey" community service project a success," said Place. "Without them, we would not be able to assist families in a time of need during the Holiday Season. Having the opportunity to give back to the community and pay forward is important and we are keenly aware of obligation to do so."

Place and the football program have been involved in several community service projects this year. Place and his staff will continue their active role in community service functions throughout the year.
