MURFREESBORO- Head Coach Makini Thompson has announced the addition of Tara Thomalla to the volleyball coaching staff. She will serve as a volunteer assistant.

At Chowan, she was actively involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee serving as Secretary, as well as participating in Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. This past spring, Thomalla was awarded the Mary E. Wood Science Award, the Sportsmanship Award, and most recently, the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award.

Most recently, Thomalla has been selected as a a recepient of the NCAA Degree Completion Scholarship, which is granted to student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility but still have credit hours to complete to attain their baccalaureate degree.

Before coming to Chowan, Thomalla earned her associate's degree from Pasco-Hernando Community College in Florida, and was named Suncoast Conference Student-Athlete of the Year.
