Armistead and Monroe Selected to Pre-Season All-CIAA Volleyball Team

HAMPTON, VA- The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association released the 2012 Pre-Season All-CIAA Volleyball Team today. The team is selected based on nominations and votes collected from CIAA volleyball coaches and sports information directors.
CU seniors Callie Armistead and Karina Monroe were selected to the team. Armistead returns to the court for the Hawks after playing 33 out of 34 matches, and tallying 969 set assists during the season as a setter. Armistead led the league in set assists for the season last year.
Karina Monroe joins Armistead on the Pre-Season All-CIAA Team after amassing 369 kills (3.00/set), and 100 blocks last season. Monroe finished the 2011 season sixth in the CIAA for kills, and second in hitting percentage (.353). In addition, both Armistead and Monroe were selected to the 2011 All-CIAA First Team.
Armistead, Monroe, and the rest of the Hawks Volleyball squad begin their season at home on September 1st at 2:00 pm against Barton.
