Friends of Whitaker Library Events
The Friends of Whitaker Library mission is twofold (1) to provide financial support to supplement existing and planned
library programs; and (2) to provide leadership in fostering greater understanding and appreciation for Whitaker Library as a source of strength for the Roanoke-Chowan and Franklin-Southampton County region. The second half of the Friends of Whitaker Library's mission statement is achieved by sponsoring yearly cultural events for Chowan University and the surrounding community. The cultural events are designed to bring intellectual enrichment to Murfreesboro, NC and the surrounding community. Past cultural events include honoring authors native to Hertford County, NC and events that focus on the culture of Eastern North Carolina.
