Alumni Relations

A message from the Director

Since 1848, Chowan University has educated thousands of young people from all parts of the globe. Chowan University graduates can be found across the world in almost every field imaginable. Graduates from Chowan become business owners, doctors, lawyers, ministers, law enforcement officers, teachers, musicians, missionaries, psychologists, and college faculty, to name a few. We are proud of our alumni!

Chowan University gives thanks for the many ways that our university community has been blessed this year. While I could never list them all, I wanted to share a few things that we are especially grateful for during this year.

Our athletics program continues to excel. This year, our volleyball and soccer teams both had incredible, record-setting seasons. Women’s volleyball ended their season with a 26-7 record and captured the CIAA championship trophy in a decisive fashion just a few weeks ago. Men’s soccer had their most successful season as a member of NCAA Division II with 12 wins on the season. Three members of the soccer team were also honored by the NCCAA for their outstanding abilities. In addition to their athletic accolades, our student athletes at Chowan continue to excel in the classroom and are very involved in giving back to our local community.

We also experienced record enrollment and retention numbers this academic year, which led us to complete the second phase of our Whites Crossing residence halls. We now boast five newly-constructed residence halls with excellent amenities for our upperclassmen. Several residence halls also have been updated and renovated. Daniel Recital Hall has been renovated as well; this will not only enhance the experience of Performing Arts students, but will also facilitate easier access for community members to the many Performing Arts events held on campus. This summer we are renovating Belk and Parker Residence Halls.

Most importantly, we are grateful for each student that calls Chowan “home.” Each student that steps foot on this campus shapes who we are as a community. Each student has an impact. Each student makes a difference. For that, we are grateful to you as an alumnus of Chowan University. Your presence here has made a difference. Your continued involvement is still making a difference for those who came after you, and those who are still to come. We appreciate you, and pray that you will be blessed.

Warmest regards,
Kay Thomas

In addition to being featured online, The Distinguished Gallery of Graduates is located on the ground floor of the historic McDowell Columns Building at the heart of the Chowan University campus.
