
Meet Our Writing Center Staff & Peer Tutors
Dr. Wendy Dower Dr. Dower earned her Ph.D. in English from UNC-Chapel Hill with a specialization in Medieval English. Besides tutoring in the Writing Center, she has taught a variety of courses both in her specialty and beyond, including Ancient World Literature, JRR Tolkien, and the Hobson course (contemporary North Carolina literature). She enjoys reading in a wide variety of genres, writing, and playing the guitar. |

Lindsay Brook Lindsay is a senior English major with a creative writing focus, minoring in Psychology. Along with being a peer tutor, she is the president of the English Club. After she graduates she plans to pursue a career in teaching. In her spare time, she waitresses, reads, writes, and loves her cat. |

Victor Theophilus Chilaka Victor is a sophomore with English major and Creative Writing focus. He is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD), an active member of the Chowan Rotaract Club, and the treasurer for the Chess and English clubs. Victor enjoys participating in campus ministry activities, playing the piano, composing and arranging video game music, and arranging native African folk music. He also enjoys Sony and Nintendo video gaming, such as the Elder Scroll series and the Pokémon RPG series. |

Terez Heckstall Terez is a sophomore majoring in Psychology with a minor in English. He enjoys creative writing as well as helping others improve their academic writing. After he graduates, Terez hopes to pursue a career in teaching. |

Sarah Elizabeth Hurst Sarah is a senior majoring in English. Along with working at the Writing Center, she is a peer tutor and the English Club secretary. In her spare time, she reads, plays the piano, and enjoys relaxing in a coffee shop. |

Lee Johnson Lee is a junior Elementary Education major. She will do her student teaching in spring, 2014. After she graduates, she plans to teach 4th or 5th grade in her hometown or in Hertford County. In her spare time, she enjoys reading novels and writing poetry. |

Alora Lincoln Alora is a sophomore majoring in Exercise Science and Psychology with a minor in Coaching. After earning her degree, she plans to go to graduate school, with the goal of becoming a Physical Therapist and a Physical/Occupational Therapy Counselor. Alora is a pitcher on the softball team and a member of the Honors College Student Association (HCSA). |

Ashley Orie Ashley Orie is from Hampton, VA. She is a sophomore with Social Sciences major, and loves to work with other people. She hopes to work one day with a non-profit organization of her choice and achieve her Master's degree in Psychology. In her free time, she likes to sing, shop, learn, and spend time with family and friends. |

Brittney Sykes Brittney is a senior Elementary Education major. She hopes to become an elementary teacher and live in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is a member of SNCAE (Student North Carolina Association of Educators) and the Kappa Delta Pi, Alpha Chi, and Phi Alpha Theta Honor Societies. She has a passion for English, especially poetry. She enjoys reading, surfing the web, making crafts, cooking, and working with small children. |
