For the first time in many years, Chowan University has undertaken the restoration of the heart of the university – McDowell Columns Building.
Built in 1851, the Columns has survived the Civil War and World War II (doors were closed). The entire exterior of the building is receiving a complete facelift that will bring the building back to its original luster.
When thinking about Chowan University, alumni and friends immediately think about the Columns. The renovation project is the first major undertaking by President Chris White. In order to be successful, President White encourages those who love the University to give a gift – large or small.
