I am deeply honored to be elected President of the Chowan University Alumni
Association. As a member of the Board and President-elect, I have had the
opportunity to get to know many of our alumni and I am proud to say that we
definitely have some of the most passionate and dedicated alumni. However,
just as any unit performs as a function of its parts; our Alumni Association
is only as productive as those alumni who participate.
As we begin planning for the coming year our emphasis is on continued momentum aimed at greater Alumni involvement and connectedness to the University. We intend on fostering closer communication with you and encourage your feedback on ways to promote this aim. One means of communication will be through the CUAA website. It will contain information on events, activities and ways to participate. Additionally, we hope to stay in frequent contact with you through email, letters, and telephone to apprise you of opportunities for involvement and support.
Our current goals for the club include increasing its membership, with particular emphasis on attracting a variety of alumni, and continuing to organize and promote activities that associate and invigorate our members. One such program to promote increased involvement between our Alumni and student body is the Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (STAT) program. The STAT program helps students build lifelong relationships with one another, the University, and the alumni through such areas as mentoring, access to meeting sessions with past alumni offering insight and successes based on their experience, and internship possibilities.
I encourage each of you to become an active member of the Chowan University Alumni Association. Annual membership is only $25.00 and Lifetime Membership is $300.00. Membership fees and any additional contributions received through our membership drive will be assigned to the new CUAA Scholarship Fund and cover necessary expenses. To best serve our alumni, we need to hear from you. We welcome your input and encourage your participation.
