Check-in Day

New Student Check-in is Saturday, August 22nd

Check-in for new students is Saturday, August 22nd beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. 
Commuting students will receive check-in information in their Chowan e-mail.

Here’s what you’ll do on August 22nd:

  1. Drive to the Helms Center (#44 on our campus map) and check in – it will only take a few minutes, don’t unload your car.
  2. Receive your room key and additional instructions from Chowan University staff.
  3. Proceed to your Residence Hall using the map provided.
  4. Unload your belongings and move your belongings to your residence hall room in 30 minutes. Upperclassmen, student-athletes, and local churches will help you move in! 
  5. Receive additional parking instructions from Public Safety.
  6. Complete your check-in process as indicated in your packet.

Area churches will provide a FREE lunch on August 22nd in Squirrel Park from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.!

You must complete and return the following before you arrive in August*:

Final High School Transcript with actual graduation date
Housing Preference Form approved
Medical Form completed and approved by the University
All of your Financial Aid paperwork approved
Attend Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR)
Student Health Insurance Waiver approved 
Paid your fall account balance or set up payment arrangements and be current on your payments with the Business Office

*In order to qualify for Express Check-in, you must complete the above by August 1st.

If you have questions regarding Check-In please call your Admissions Counselor at 1-888-4-CHOWAN (1-888-424-6926). You may also fax your information to (252) 398-1190 or email it to enroll@chowan.edu.

Failure to pay or make satisfactory arrangements with the Business Office by August 1st for the Fall semester balance may result in you losing your room reservation if other students are waiting for a room. Failing to check in on Saturday, August 22nd between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. could result in a fine and loss of your residence hall space. 

Review your Check-in status by going to MyCU.

Returning Student Check-in is Sunday, August 23rd

Returning students are scheduled to move into residence halls on Sunday, August 23rd  between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Commuting students will receive check-in information in their Chowan e-mail.

Unless you qualify for Express Check-in, you should report to the Jenkins Center and become validated on Monday, August 24th from 9:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. 

Note: You will be charged a $50 late registration fee if you do not complete validation and check-in before Monday, August 24th at 3:00 p.m.

Classes begin on Tuesday, August 25th.

In order to for you to have a smooth and easy check-in, complete the following before you check-in on Monday, August 23rd:

Satisfactory payment arrangements with the Business Office.
Financial aid paperwork completed and approved by the Financial Aid Office.
Registered for classes by contacting the Registrar’s Office.

If these steps are completed by Monday, August 1st, then you qualify for Express Registration, which will ensure an even smoother check-in!

To check on your check-in status, go to MyCU. Use your login name and password to access your personal check-in information, status of incomplete check-in steps, and registration status.  MyCU provides real-time updates on your check-in status, and steps that needed completing before validation and check-in.
