Applications for AdmissionIf you would like to be a part of the Chowan community, click here for an on-line application for admission.

After you complete your application for admission:

  • Send a $20 non-refundable application fee. Fee is waived if received before December 15.
  • Submit your official high school transcript. Click here for a transcript request form.
  • Submit SAT and/or ACT scores. College Board Code is 5107, and ACT Code is 3084.

After receiving your information, your Admissions Counselor will usually contact you with an admissions decision and scholarship consideration within 72-hours.

To enroll at Chowan University, a $100 advance tuition deposit is required to secure the student's place in Student Orientation Advising and Registration (SOAR). Housing assignments will not be made until the advance tuition deposit is received.

We strongly suggest you visit Chowan, even though a campus visit is not required.

Campus visits are available Monday through Friday, selected Saturdays, and on special visitation events planned throughout the year. For the complete visitation day and Saturday schedule, please visit Admissions: Schedule Your Visit .

Minimum Courses Requirements must be completed with at least a 2.0 GPA:

  • English: 4 courses. College preparatory.
  • Mathematics: 3 courses, Algebra I and II and Geometry. An advanced math beyond geometry is strongly recommended.
  • Science: 2 courses. 1 course must be a lab science. Physics is recommended.
  • Social Studies: 2 courses. 1 course must be in U.S. History.
  • Foreign Language: 2 years of the same language is strongly recommended.

AP classes are highly recommended. Send score reports to the Admissions Office. Credit is given on a course-by-course basis.

Applicants who do not meet minimum course requirements may be offered conditional acceptance. These applicants will receive:

  • Extra attention and academic assistance from Chowan personal.
  • Measures will be in place to ensure communication between students and advisors, professors, assistance staff, and parents
