Chowan University does not charge out-of-state tuition.

So how much does it "cost" to attend Chowan University?

The "price" for Chowan University for one year including tuition, room, board, and fees is approximately $30,380 (based on standard room, double occupancy, and a 19 meal plan). That makes the "price" approximately $15,190 per semester for tuition, room, board, and fees. The actual "cost" differs per student.

For 2012-13, on average, students received $17,927 toward their tuition, covering much more than half the cost of a Chowan education. This does not even include the money a student can make from institutional work-study salaries such as Peer Mentors and Resident Assistants! In 2012-13 the average on-campus student paid only $8,730 out of pocket to attend Chowan University for one year.

Chowan University's Financial Aid department awards over $22 million in aid a year. Through support of private gifts from alumni, businesses and friends, as well as endowment earnings, and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Chowan is able to charge tuition that is less than the actual cost of instruction.

Many students find that because of Chowan's financial assistance programs, we are as affordable as many state universities!

All costs are estimated and subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees.
