Jeffrey P. Whelan Assistant Professor of Visual Art

"I feel that the close relationship we are able to have with our students is our greatest asset. I also feel that the art faculty's connection to the professional world is of great importance. By staying active through freelance work and maintaining a studio / gallery presence, we accomplish a great deal."

Education:
Jeff Whelan received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the University of Southern Maine. He received his Masters degree in Communication from Regent University's School of Radio, Film and Television, where he specialized in Animation and Screen Writing. He did additional graduate study with The Portland School of Art at Pratt Institute. He will be receiving his Masters of Fine Arts in Illustration, specializing in Illustration and 3-D Animation, from East Carolina University's School of Art and Design in the fall of 2007. Jeff Whelan came to work at Chowan University in 2000.
