Alcohol / Drug Studies Track

“The professors are very compassionate about their work, and they make learning interesting and fun. We have a lot of hands on experience that will help us successfully perform our duties as Alcohol and Drug counselors.”
- Candice Lewis, current Psychology major

Chowan University is the only school in the whole state of
North Carolina to offer a bachelor's level degree that leads to state certification as an alcohol/drug counselor!

Our specialized curriculum in the Department of Psychology’s Alcohol/Drug Studies Track can apply a concentration in alcohol and drug counseling that will make students eligible for state certification by the time they graduate!

Our students in the Alcohol/Drug Studies Track will also have the opportunity to use their acquired counseling skills in both client/counselor dramatizations in the classroom and in actual counseling settings working with clients.
