Graphic Communication Summer Camp

Graphics Summer Camp Application

Create. Print. Communicate. Chowan University's week long Graphics Camp is a great experience for rising high school seniors or graduated high school seniors that may have an interest in pursuing a career in the Graphic Communication industry. Campers experience college life by living in the dormitory; eating in the caferteria; meet and work with the faculty, staff and students in the many areas of graphic communication offered at Chowan.

Daily (except Wednesday) campers attend morning and afternoon learning sessions in offset lithography, flexography, screen printing and world wide web. The students work on graphic projects such as; manipulating digital photographs; designing and printing their own tee shirt; printing mailing labels, stickers and a camp poster; and working with web pages.

In their free time, campers play volleyball and horseshoes at cook outs; play pool or ping pong at the student union or swim in the university's pool; or just hang out and in the computer labs and surf the web. Off campus activities on Wednesday morning include a field trip to tour a major printng company and a stop at an amusement park in the affternoon. The visit to the printing company is the highlight of the week because seeing the printing process first hand helps campers understand the design to print concept and the scope of the industry.

All the concepts they are exposed to help a student become better prepared to Create, Print and Communicate.

Students learn ways to create ideas, get them printed, and communicate not only in print but also through various other print and media related methods. The field of graphic communication along with its possible opportunities continues to grow rapidly. By being prepared and educated, a student can find an area in this field that is intriguing and interesting. This camp is a great way to start a successful college career, which can lead to a successful career in graphic communication.
