Welcome Alumni!

Thank you for visiting the Chowan alumni section of our Web site. I cannot express how exciting it is to be on the campus of Chowan University. This is an excellent time to be connected to Chowan as the university is experiencing unprecedented growth. Chowan is presently the second fastest growing private university in the entire state of North Carolina!

The 2011-12 academic year is promising to be full of great news for our graduates. In November, you can look for news regarding groundbreaking construction on new suite-style residence halls that will be built as our explosive growth has warranted this new construction. This will be the first new residence hall construction to take place in more than 40 years! The campus is ever evolving and I guarantee you will see something new or improved since your last visit here.

I am most encouraged in sharing how excited our current students are to be here. I think school spirit is at an all-time high! Seeing and meeting these promising students will no doubt leave you with the impression that Chowan University is only beginning to grow and expand, reaching and positively affecting the lives of so many students. If you have not returned to campus or watched one of our exciting CIAA conference DII athletic contests, you are really missing out on some great competition and some exciting rivalries that have started to build.

I especially want to encourage you to come back to campus during Homecoming weekend, which is scheduled for Saturday, October 22. This will be the best, most fun-filled Homecoming yet. We have numerous events and activities planned for you and your family. Everyone is welcome and I encourage you to come and experience for yourself how the campus community is energized.

As alumni, we can become directly involved in all of this exciting growth by doing several key things. First, stay informed of the latest Chowan news and happenings by visiting www.chowan.edu . Second, recommend a student to Chowan, and third, attend Chowan functions and athletic events on and off campus. Last, but certainly not least, support Chowan annually in your charitable giving! Your gift along with thousands of other Chowan alumni will ensure that current and future Chowan students will experience the best possible education in the best of surroundings.

With generations of faithful Chowan alumni working together, there is no limit to how great Chowan University can become! Thank you for your faithful and prayerful support of Chowan and the students we serve. I hope to visit with you in person in the coming year.
