Grants

Federal Pell Grants
Federal Pell Grants are federal grants available to U.S. Citizens enrolled in college with exceptional need. Awards are based on a federal formula and range from $400-$5,500. Awards are prorated for students who are taking less than 12 hours per semester.

North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grants
North Carolina Legislative Tuition Grants (NCLTG) are awarded to North Carolina residents enrolled in at least twelve hours of University work. (Students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree are not eligible.). A student must complete an NCLTG Application Form each year in order to receive the grant.

Students who have completed 140 semester credit hours or more will receive seventy-five percent of the current year’s NCLTG. Funding is based each year on appropriations by the North Carolina Legislature. The grant is not available during the summer semester.

North Carolina Contractual Grant
The North Carolina Contractual Grant is funded by the North Carolina State Legislature to assist North Carolina residents with demonstrated need. At Chowan the student must be enrolled full-time (12 or more hours per semester), be Pell Grant eligible and must be a resident of North Carolina for over one year to qualify for this grant.

North Carolina Student Incentive Grants
North Carolina Student Incentive Grants (NCSIG) are funds appropriated by the State Legislature to match federal funds in order to assist full-time students with financial need. The FAFSA should be completed by March 15 in order to be considered for this grant.
