Department of Interdisciplinary Studies

Chowan University's Department of Interdisciplinary Studies is uniquely designed to allow students the freedom to establish a specialized major that is more directly devoted to a student's individual interests and needs.

These students can develop a personal concentration of studies tailor-made for people whose interests, plans, or abilities overlap these categories, in order to learn beyond the traditional boundaries of higher education that limit most other institutions.

Students can use their previously earned class credits and graduate with a degree distinctly devoted to their talents!

By combining different courses from all over the campus, students can earn degrees in:

Students of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies will graduate with a wide array of skills and experiences that will prepare them to prosper in a variety of situations with a broad range of academic skills essential to a rapidly changing and culturally diverse global society.

Education:
Gladys A. DeJesus received her B. A. degree in Economics from National University in the Dominican Republic. She received her M. A. degree and her Ph.D. degree in Economics from The Ohio State University. Gladys A. DeJesus came to work at Chowan in 1993.

Education:
David Edwin Ballew, Jr. received his B.A. degree in History from the University of North Alabama. He received his Master’s degree and his Ph.D. degree in History from the University of Mississippi. Ballew came to work at Chowan University in 2002.

Education:
Steve Harders received his B.A. degree in Theatre Arts from Marycrest International University in Iowa. He received his Masters of Fine Art degree in Directing from Virginia Commonwealth University. Steve Harders came to work at Chowan University in 2003.

G. Kenneth Wolfskill G. Kenneth Wolfskill

Education:
Kenneth Wolfskill received his B.S. degree in English from Samford University. He received his Master's degree in English from the University of Kentucky and his Ph.D. degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He did additional graduate study with the University of Florida. Kenneth Wolfskill came to work at Chowan University in 1973.
